The books
Stories by C.J. Kael
Epic worlds. Complex characters. Journeys through darkness and toward something brighter.
The old stories say the gods are gone.
They say the mages are dead.
They say the world was left in peace.
But old stories have a way of hiding darker truths.
Raised in the shadow of Lantern Hold, Halion has always felt different. Watched over by Lord Seth Lantern and haunted by questions no one will answer, he longs for a life untouched by secrets. But far from the safety of the Hold, villages burn, armies gather, and whispers spread of things that should have remained buried.
Across the world, a pirate hunted by his past, a warrior princess bound by duty, and a broken priest drowning in guilt are drawn toward the same growing darkness. Forgotten maps begin to surface. Ancient creatures stir. And rumours of returning mages threaten to tear fragile kingdoms apart.
Something is moving behind the wars of men.
Something patient.
Something old.
Shadows Before the Dawn is Book One of Shards of the Celanthian Fields, an epic fantasy of lost gods, hidden magic, ancient secrets, and the fragile line between destiny and choice.
